During Winter Break of 2015 I embarked on and completed an ambitious stained glass project on the front of my home.
You can read that post here: http://afoundobject.com/ramblings/painting-with-light-and-glass.

I've decided to complete two more windows for our upstairs bedroom closets. Our home was built in 1938 and windows were placed in the closets to deter moths. However, the sun shines in through the windows and bleaches the clothes on hangers.

After I made all of the cuts for my pattern, I assembled the stained glass pieces into the pattern to ensure a good fit between each piece.

I then wash the individual glass pieces of the design after they have been cut and begin the tedious process of applying the copper foil and burnishing the edges.

Once all of my pieces have been wrapped in copper foil I assemble all of them into the stained glass pattern using nails to hold the window in place.  I used Zinc U came to give the windows my structure on the outside edges as seen below.  The bottom edge came will be attached after I solder the top side of the window.

Once I complete all of the soldering, I clean the piece and put the finishing touches on it by applying a patina to the solder. I used a black patina on these pieces.

...and here are the completed windows.

    About me...

I work in the IT industry by day managing a team of software developers. I very much enjoy what I do. Technology changes as quickly as it gets boring so this career is suited perfectly for me.

If I were to answer the question, "What would you do if you won the lottery?" My answer is not something I waver on. I would make my art (and go on object finding missions) all day long.

I've changed careers. I moved from place to place. People have drifted in an out of my life. Art is my constant - like breathing really, but I don't really have the choice to not breathe! :)
